1. Nature of the Service
Battle Creek Residents Directory is a privately operated reference service. It describes and links to public record indexes, rolls, and directory collections relevant to Battle Creek, Michigan. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with a government office, court, or record custodian.
2. Permitted Use
Use this service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it, or material found through it, to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
- Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
- Commit identity theft or fraud
- Make an FCRA-regulated decision, including one about credit, employment, tenant, or insurance matters
- Systematically scrape, copy, or republish the service’s content
- Disrupt the service’s operation or security

7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold the service operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, resulting from misuse of the service or a violation of these terms.
8. Intellectual Property
The original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Links and short attributed quotations are welcome. Republishing complete pages or systematically copying content is not allowed.
9. Changes to Terms
We may revise these terms by posting an updated version here. Using the service after a revision means you accept it.
10. Restricting Access
We may block or limit access, without notice, when a user violates these terms or misuses the service.
11. Governing Law
Michigan law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Public-record requests described in the service are subject to the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., as well as custodian-specific court, vital-record, and other access rules.
12. Severability
If a provision of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
